The International AiPT Workshop: Where Machine Learning Meets Photonics – A Recap
From 19–21 May 2025, Aston University in Birmingham proudly hosted the inaugural International AiPT Workshop: Machine Learning Meets Photonics — an exciting new initiative led by #AstonPhotonics under the umbrella of The Alan Turing Institute.
The event was officially opened with a warm welcome from Aston University’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Aleks Subic, setting the tone for three dynamic days of innovation, knowledge exchange, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Throughout the workshop, participants explored cutting-edge developments at the intersection of #Photonics and #MachineLearning, including:
Applications of AI/ML in high-speed #OpticalCommunications, supported by the NESTOR Doctoral Network. Breakthroughs in #Neuromorphic and #OpticalComputing, showcased by the UK Multidisciplinary Centre for Neuromorphic Computing and the POSTDIGITAL+ Doctoral Network. Emerging trends in AI, including model interpretability and novel scientific applications.
